Cervical Check – the HSE National Cervical Screening Programme offers free cervical screening to women aged between 25 and 60.
If you have ever been sexually active, you should have regular cervical screening tests. This includes women in same-sex relationships.
A smear test is a simple procedure that only takes minutes and is the most effective way to detect changes in the cells of the cervix.
Depending on your age, you should have a test:
- Every 3 years if you are aged 25 to 29 years
- Every 5 years if you are aged 30 to 65 years
Some women may need more frequent screening. We will let you know if you do You have to ring or register online, then contact us for an appointment.
